Each-Way Betting

  • An each-way bet = 2 bets:

    1. One for the horse to win

    2. One for the horse to place (finish in top positions – e.g. 2nd, 3rd)

  • Example: A £1 each-way = £2 total stake (£1 win + £1 place)

  • Winning the race: You win both parts.

  • Only placing: You win just the place part.

Odds for placing are usually 1/4 or 1/5 of the win odds.

Rule 4 Deductions

  • If a horse withdraws after you place your bet, bookmakers apply a Rule 4 deduction to your winnings. The amount depends on the odds of the withdrawn horse:

9/2 – 11/215p
6/1 – 9/110p
10/1 – 14/15p

Dead Heat Rules

  • A dead heat happens when 2 or more horses tie at the finish.
  • You don't win full odds – your winnings are split.

Example Calculation:

  1. Divide your stake by number of dead-heated horses.

  2. Multiply the result by your odds.

Don’t worry – our calculator does the math for you!
Just tick the Dead Heat option.
